Division of Financial Regulation
Kirk Schmidt, Director
The Division of Financial Regulation monitors the financial condition of all domestic (Missouri-domiciled) and foreign (non-Missouri based) insurance companies operating here. To do so, the division conducts financial examinations of domestic insurance companies and analyzes the financial condition of all companies licensed to sell insurance in Missouri. The division tries to prevent insolvencies of domestic companies and takes appropriate action against any financially unsound companies to protect policyholders and taxpayers.
The division accounts for premium taxes and filing fees due Missouri and for insurance companies’ deposits held to benefit policyholders.
The division includes the examination, financial analysis, taxation, surplus lines and admissions sections.
