Admissions Section

The Admissions Section licenses all types of insurance companies that conduct business in Missouri.

At the end of 2002, Insurance licensed 1,838 insurance companies. The Admissions Section receives four to six new admission applications each month. After financial and policy analysts approve the financial health and proposed company forms, the Admissions Section issues the certificates of authority to do business in Missouri.

Besides licensure of new admissions, the section tracks licensed companies’ compliance with all financial filing requirements and payment of all filing and renewal fees.

This section tracks the history of a company – from its licensure in Missouri to the present – to give policyholders and the public information on its status, including any name changes, mergers, acquisitions, redomestications, address changes, assumption of business or changes to companies’ certificates of authority, articles of incorporation, bylaws, officers and directors. The Admissions Section monitors company status on liquidations, receiverships, rehabilitations and suspensions or revocations of their certificates of authority in Missouri and in their domiciliary states.
